The Ngorongoro Crater was formed around 2.5 million years ago when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself. Now an enclosed ecosystem and World Heritage Site, the Crater is the best place in East Africa to see the Big 5. Measuring in at around 600 metres (1 970 feet) deep, the Crater’s floor covers about 260 square kilometres (100 square miles). This is where to go in Tanzania to see diverse habitats that support around 30 000 animals.
After breakfast drive to Tarangire to discover the giant termite mounds and baobab trees of Tarangire. This park which is home to elephants, spots a particularly dense wildlife. Overnight at Lodge/Luxury Camp.
Leave Tarangire after breakfast for an all-day game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara, a Rift Valley chain lake, is nestled at the foot of a spectacular 2,000-foot escarpment and is surrounded by a lush tropical forest filled with towering mahogany and fig trees. Overnight at Lodge/Luxury Camp.
After breakfast depart to the park for a full day game drive. The migration offers excellent opportunities to view animal behaviour due to the abundance of both predators and prey. Common animals are wildebeest, cheetah, zebra, lion, giraffe, and many antelopes. Overnight at the Lodge.
After an early breakfast depart a final Game drive in the Serengeti. Drive to Grumeti River to spend time Watching birds and water life. After lunch drive to Ngorongoro Crater. Overnight at Lodge.
